Non-Represented, Police/Fire, and Part-Time EAP
Your benefits includes access to a confidential Employee Assistant Program (EAP) program called The Life Connection (TLC) with up to six (6) free visits per covered employee and family member per issue encountered. This program is offered through Behavioral Healthcare Options (BHO), and the program provides assessment, short-term counseling, referral and follow-up services to assist employees and their families in solving personal problems. Some of the most frequently identified problems that an employee or their covered family members may utilize the EAP for include:
- Emotional and personal conflicts
- Grief and loss
- Anxiety and Depression
- Stress and change management
- Anger management
- Parenting
- Family blending
- Legal problems
- Work performance issues
- Marital conflicts
- Financial problems
- Addiction problems (gambling, alcohol and drug abuse)
Who is Eligible to use the EAP?
All part-time employees, all active full-time employees who are eligible to participate in the self-funded health plan (Police, Fire, and Non-Represented), and their immediate family members are eligible to participate in the EAP, beginning from their date of hire. Immediate family is defined as legal spouse, legal children, step-children, and foster children. Any family members living in your home are also able to participate.
How Does It Work?
The Life Connection (TLC) program from BHO includes:
- Six (6) face to face (or virtual) counseling visits per member per issue per year
- You may call the BHO EAP 24/7 at (800) 280-3782 to ask questions or to schedule an appointment; or to schedule an appointment, you may submit the BHO intake form online, and a representative from BHO will reach out to you within 24 hours to assist you with getting scheduled, or to send you provider referrals.
